The Apron Project

Since February 2015 The Apron Project has been raising funds for women and children escaping domestic and family violence.  Over 200 artists from around the world have contributed more than 400 stitched, painted and beaded aprons, raising more than AUD100,000.00.

Unite for Good

Rotary International’s theme Unite for Good calls on us to come together in service and compassion.  Through shared action and goodwill, we can build a world where kindness and unity lead the way.

I call on artists to create aprons of joy to honor all the women in our lives.  Let them be creative and colourful whether they are painted, beaded, quilted and stitched.

This year funds raised from The Apron Project and the International Women’s Day High Tea will be directed to the Rotary D9685 Safe Hands Bursaries to underpin children impacted by domestic and family violence and Strong Arms Scholarships designed to support adult survivors pursuing TAFE or University qualifications.

Sister Up

As part of 2024 Sydney Craft Week, the aprons were showcased at the beautiful heritage gallery, Wallarobba Art and Cultural Centre.  A wonderful week of exchanging stories, connecting with community and acknowledging the critical work of the Tangentyere Women’s Family Safety Group. The subsequent auction raised $20,000.00.

2019 ROAD SHOW

Did you see these beautiful aprons when they passed through town?

More than 80 aprons created by artists from all over the world travelled to towns across New South Wales in an effort to start conversations about domestic violence.

Together we can take down the invisible barriers, rebuild hearts and homes simply by listening.
